Preparing for your procedure:
Prior to your procedure, your doctor will:
- Describe the RESET therapy procedure and the potential side effects.
- Ask a series of questions about your current health and medical history to help make sure the procedure is safe for you.
- Conduct a medical exam and take a blood sample to test for certain conditions such as blood clotting problems, diabetes, and low iron levels that could make the procedure or therapy less safe for you.
- Prescribe a daily antacid, known as histamine-2 receptor antagonist (H2RA) which you must take from two-weeks prior to device placement until two weeks after it is removed.
- Advise you to take a multivitamin and iron supplement daily.
- Advise you that the use of NSAIDs, are not allowed. (Check with your doctor before taking any over-the-counter medicines or supplements).
- Discuss the time commitment and lifestyle changes needed to be successful with this therapy.
